Frank here, reporting to you again from Durham North Carolina, where I’m doing my best to cheer on the tall lady as she battles through the one loss side of the bracket. In a couple hours she’ll be going up against Irene Henry and if she wins she’ll be taking on Kim White.
Lots of my friends who I met at the US Open are playing in this event too. Sarah Rousey, Helena Thornfeldt, Monica Webb, Ga Young Kim, Kelly Fisher, Jasmin and Xiao Ting Pan are all still on the winner’s side, working their way through the tournament.
Debbie and I will be bringing you updates later today, so be sure to check back. I know that the tall lady is going to take lots of pictures too, so after the tournament we’ll be sure to get them up on the blog!
10AM matches and Debbie don’t seem to get along very well, as my handler and alltime favorite WPBAer Debbie Schjodt lost a tough match 9-6 to Liz Lovely who just came off winning the World Junior 10 Ball Championship. Some bad breaks, a few bad rolls and a 5-2 lead can turn around on you pretty quick. Next up for the tall lady is the loser of the Helena Thornfeldt/Irene Henry match.
Poor Debbie. The WPBA just announced her first match and its at 10AM. I guess that means it’ll be a quiet night. Bright and early (well bright and early for the tall lady anyway), Debbie will be going up against Liz Lovely who just took the World Junior 10 Ball Championship last month. Our pal Sarah Rousey is in the same boat as the tall lady, pulling a 10AM match against Val Finnie.
Not much else to report, so I’m off to bed. Back tomorrow to let you know how Debbie’s first match went.
